Julia Conway's Profile

Julia Conway is a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Chemistry and Religious Studies double major, and is on the pre-medical track.
Julia became interested in The Triple Helix in the summer of 2006, and then helped Cate Howard-Teplansky start up the UNC-CH chapter. She began as Editor-in-Chief and has just transitioned to Chapter President.
Outside of The Triple Helix, Julia is a research assistant at the UNC Center for Gene Therapy where she is active in a project involving viral capsid genes. She runs for the UNC Marathon team, and is the treasurer for The Roosevelt Institution, a policy think tank on campus. She works as a Spanish interpreter at a health clinic, and lives in the Spanish theme house on campus. She is also active in UNC’s Arabic program. During the summer of 2006, she volunteered for 3 months in at the Hospital Regional de Loreto in Iquitos, Peru, where she assisted in the surgery ward and the burn unit. After graduation, Julia hopes to go to medical school.
